Ravn

An interesting freelance brief...Ravn was a tech company that works primarily with the Department of Defense. They wanted three new logo designs, and they wanted the logos to have an "ominous" yet "modern" feel.
So for the palette, I chose a grey metal color and black to accentuate the "militaristic, ominous" feel. And the I chose typefaces that were san serif and "announced" themselves.
For the first logo, I "cut out" the image of a bird landing across a very blocky RAVN (I stretched the name to make it taller), so that
the viewer can easily see both the name of the company and the
bird landing.
For the second, I used a cut-out silhouette of a raven against a black moon; I made the typeface, thinner and starker to give it more of an emaciated, bare bones feeling; it's simplicity and stripped-down aesthetic.
The last logo was RAVN with the A and V interlocked creating solidity. Again it was a capped, no-nonsense san serif in a metallic gray positioned like it "stamped" on a black background. Very muscular, militaristic look.
The three were presented to the client and they liked the first one very much!
